Surroundings

Just in front of the camping, at 200 m, there is a 1,5 Km sandy beach, very good for children and also for sailing. The following photos have been taken on 28 July at 11:00, this is, one of the busiest days of the summer. Of course in low season there are far fewer people, and one can enjoy the quietness even more.

There also the main beach of Empuriabrava, at about 1 Km from the campsite, a sandy beach very good for the children. This beach extends more than 5 Km in direction to the village of Sant Pere Pescador, making an excellent walking beside the sea.

If you prefer small, rocky beaches, there are a lot of them at 10 Km from us, direction to Roses, in the natural park of 'Cap de Creus'.

Starting at the campsite, there are various bicycle routes. For example, a route across the natural park of 'Aiguamolls de l'Emporda', or you can also go to Roses. Empuriabrava, the village beside us, is an ideal place, flat, with nice views to the channels, most streets are residential, with vehicles driving slowly. In the reception we will inform you about all the routes.

Bicycle rental: There are various places in the center of Empuriabrava, at about 500 meters from us.

On the Rubina beach, in front of the campsite, you can practice water sports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing. Many days in summer there is a gentle sea breeze that starts in the morning and in the afternoon it can reach force 4 or 5.

For windsurfing you can start from two zones, while for kitesurfing departure area is towards the end of the beach. Once underway, you must respect safety distances from the beach and bathers.

Next to the campsite entrance is the Hípica Arnau, where they give riding lessons and horseback riding (€30/hour) or pony rides (€20/half an hour). Prices 2026. The activities take place mainly in the afternoon. For more information, call +34 604454845.

In Empuriabrava's airport, at about 1,5 Km from us, there is the biggest parachuting center of Europa. They organize tandem jumps and courses.

Next to Empuriabrava Airport is the Windoor wind tunnel, a place for safe skydiving. Also suitable for beginners and small children.

Empuriabrava has sandy beaches but very nearby there are rocky parts of coast, with nice small beaches. For example, direction Roses, there are: Punta Falconera, Cabo Norfeu. In the other side of the Gulf of Roses there are the well known Isles Medes, a natural sub-aquatic park. One of the best-known diving centers in Empuriabrava is Club Inmersió Empuriabrava.

In Roses, at 5 Kms, there is the RosesSub diving center, with great quality services.

There are 11 tennis courts at about 1 Km from us, in Empuriabrava, near the airport. In 2026, 1 hour costs 18 Euros but you can also buy 10 hours for 135 Euros. It is a big club, they teach and organize championships every week. They speak all languages, you can phone them at 972 454367, or look their web pages.

The nearest golf terrain is the 'Pitch & Putt Golf', at 4 Km near us, in Castelló d'Empúries, in the area called 'Castelló Nou'. They have accessible prices, like 13-23 € for 18 holes (prices 2026). Also, near the entrance there is a free practice field. The place is very well designed and worth a visit.

There are also big golf terrains in Perelada and in Navata, at aprox. 13 and 27 Km from us.

In this natural park you will discover a great variety of animal species and a rich vegetation thanks to the contrasts derived from its proximity to the sea: moorhens, coots and storks live side by side with all types of insects, frogs, badgers, rabbits, weasels and even otters and in winter some wild boar, in an area dominated by water and vegetation.

Empuriabrava, residential zone of Castelló d' Empúries, was built in 1967. Its originality is due to the structure of its town planning which develops around a navigable canal system. Empuriabrava is one of biggest tourist complexes of the Mediterranean. With 7 km of fine sand beaches and 24 km of the navigable channels, Empuriabrava will attract you by its water sports and for its great marina. Moreover, Empuriabrava includes a very important parachuting center, recognized at the international level, in active throughout the year, and where a good number of european and world championships are organised.

At 5 Kms from the campsite, there is the beautiful medieval village of Castelló d´Empúries, with the Cathedral of Santa Maria, a Gothic building with Romanesque elements from the 12th and 12th centuries. It is also known as the Cathedral of l´Empordà as a result of its influence during the middle Ages.

Inaugurated in 1974, the Dalí Theatre-Museum was built upon the remains of the former Figueres theatre. It contains the broadest range of works spanning the artistic career of Salvador Dalí (1904-1989), from his earliest artistic experiences and his creations within the Surrealist movement down to the works of the last years of his life.

Empúries was founded around 575 B.C. by the Greeks of Focea who, for security reasons, first settled on the little island later called Paleopolis, now joined to the mainland and called Sant Martí d’Empúries, and later moved to the mainland to establish Neapolis or New City. This is the site of the ruins. The Greeks called it Em-porium, or market, and it was an important trading post. Empúries was most important as the landing stage, in 218 B.C., of the Roman troops under Scipio. Beside the Greek city, the Romans built a colony, the remains of which still stand. Later, in the 1st century A.D., the colony became a city and saw a period of some splendor.

This remote coastal village is situated in the very heart of the natural reserve of El Cap de Creus. It is famous for being the refuge of many artists from all over the world, including Salvador Dalí. It is impossible not to surrender to the charms, light, and the white of its façades and the peace and quiet of the streets of this village during any visit.

The Monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes, situated over the bay that was dominated by the typical Mediterranean village of El Port de la Selva. The spectacular appearance of this monastery, together with its conservation turns it into the leading exponent of Romanesque art of the regions of Girona. It also has a fabulous view over the Mediterranean.

The historical guarders of the town of Girona its narrow streets harbor the Jewish quarter, the Bonstruc ça Porta, center and the Nahmánides study center. During the latter centuries of the middle Ages, a prosperous community with an important cabalistic school inhabited the Jewish quarter. Also interesting is the Cathedral of Girona. It’s a splendid building stretching over different periods. It has a large bell tower and Romanesque cloisters. The unique gothic nave is the widest nave in medieval architecture, and it also has a spectacular façade and Baroque-Style steps.

The Fair of the Boat of Occasion is the most important of the sector, all over the country. In the zone of the Yacht Club there is an exhibit of about 500 vessels of every type of length, depth and characteristics: pneumatic, motorboats, fishingboats, big yachts, sailboats, aquatic motorbikes...
It is the ideal place to choose and to be advised in the purchase of a vessel.

Place: Empuriabrava

Like all the villages of the coast of Catalonia, the marine of Empuriabrava celebrates around July 14 the festivities of Carmen, in order to worship the mother of God of Carmen. The procession by the channels, the popular sardinade and the big fireworks spectacle are the most emblematic acts of this festivity which has already turned into a tradition in the municipality.

Place: Castelló d'Empúries

The festival 'Land of Troubadours' every year transforms the village of Castelló D'empúries into a mediaeval town, in the glorious period in which Castelló d'Empúries was the capital of the county of Empúries.

The visitor walks around the streets decorated according to the mediaeval period, filled with craft products, while in an open stage with continous performances of musical groups and, in general, groups of actors.
